Vinyl flooring is a popular option among homeowners, particularly in kitchen and bathroom applications. However, this material is just as beneficial in many other spaces of your home. Not only does it offer amazing appearance options that mimic hardwood flooring, but it can be hard-wearing, serving both functionality and durability with an extensive lifespan.
BENEFITS
Vinyl flooring is water and stain-resistant, versatile, and provides good durability for the cost. It is a durable flooring product that stands up well to heavy foot traffic, is comfortable under the feet and reduces noise, which can be important for homeowners with kids or pets. Additionally, it is also less expensive than many other flooring options and is easy to maintain. Thanks to several advances over the years, today’s vinyl floors are not only attractive but an economical choice as well.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
Colors can fade with exposure to too much direct sunlight, so floors can be damaged by extreme temperatures. For that reason, vinyl is not recommended for outdoor or indoor/outdoor spaces. Additionally, LVP requires moisture-barrier protection between the concrete subfloors to prevent damage.
There is no substitute for the durability and beauty of a real wood floor. For every room in your home there is a hardwood floor option that can add beauty, warmth, and value. Hardwood flooring has stood the test of time in durability and is easy to maintain. With its superior strength and beauty, a real wood floor is one home investment that truly lasts a lifetime.
SELECTING THE PERFECT HARDWOOD FLOOR
All unfinished hardwood flooring that we install is “NOFMA-graded.” The National Oak Flooring Manufacturers Association (NOFMA) sets the standards in grading & milling so the consumer will get a consistent product wherever they purchase oak flooring that carries their seal throughout the states. There are five categories to choose from that we install:
Unfinished Solid Wood Flooring
Gives great opportunity for customization with ability to select the species, stains, and finish to achieve the exact desired flooring look to your space. This is the most popular and traditional option. Suitable for above-grade only spaces - bedrooms, living room, dining room, hallways, foyers, and kitchens are excellent for unfinished flooring.
Prefinished Solid Flooring
Not only enhances any room with a very clean & contemporary look, but also provides you with a factory finish warranty of up to 25 years. A benefit is that no sanding or staining is required.
Engineered Wood Flooring
Consists of layers of wood pressed together with the top layer being the finished floor product. Many different species, colors and finishes are available. It is perfect for those areas of the house where solid wood flooring is not suitable. Suitable for both above-grade & below-grade. Basements, bathrooms, utility rooms and kitchens are perfect examples of rooms to install this type of flooring.
Floating Floors
Can be installed almost anywhere. Floating floors are made of multiple layers of wood constructed with tongue and grooves along all four sides. They are not nailed or glued to the sub floor hence the name floating floor. When the furniture is in place the floor is held down. It has a softer feel under the feet when walked on. Suitable for above-grade & below-grade. Basements, bathrooms, utility rooms and kitchens are perfect rooms to install this type of flooring.
